On June 19th, Covestro and Shanghai TONNEY Industrial Co., Ltd. debuted at Design Shanghai, which is one of the most prestigious international design events in the world.

With the common vision of circular economy, Covestro supplied low-carbon materials such as partially Bio-based waterborne curing agents and Post-Consumer Recycling (PCR) Polycarbonate for Tonney, and works together to create two models hair dryers. The cooperation takes material technology as a breakthrough point, focuses on the downstream industry's demand for carbon reduction in the production process, seeking green new products under the new material coating, and responding to market and consumer demands with high standards. Shanghai Tonney has focused on providing technology-driven digital supply chain services to the hospitality industry for two decades.

Bayhydur® CQ ultra 701-90 partially bio-based waterborne curing agent was applied to Tonney' T50-GY and T50-B hair dryers has a bio-based content of approximately 61%, which is a 35% carbon reduction compared to traditional fossil-based curing agents. In addition, it has better chemical resistance and resin compatibility, which enhances the ease of use of the product and better color clarity for customized color matching.

The hair dryeres shell is made of the Covestro PCR polycarbonate solution clone ® 205 R50. The material UL ECV certified and has a 50% recycled content, which not only reduces waste to landfills, but also reduces carbon emissions by 36% compared to virgin plastics. In addition, the PCR material can ensuring safety and design freedom while offering design flexibility.

In addition to the low-carbon materials, Covestro also provides customized CMF (color, material, surface treatment) coating effect solutions for Tonney hair dryers, and plans to introduce more polycarbonate paint-free aesthetic design options in the future.

Through CMF expertise, Covestro has been committed to integrating aesthetic design into more sustainable materials, promoting design concepts that balance aesthetics and recycling, and helping designers open up more product design possibilities.

With more than 20 years of experience in hotel supply chain services, Shanghai Tonney is committed to providing advanced digital supply chain services for the hospitality industry. The company always adheres to the "hotel ESG" (Environmental, Social and Governance) oriented to build product resources.

In the future, Tonney will continue to focus on improving the quality and performance of its products, extending product life and reducing abandonment rates through optimization and upgrading, as well as reducing energy consumption during use.

Meanwhile, through the in-depth cooperation with Covestro, we will continue to explore the application of recycled and renewable low-carbon materials in hotel room scenarios to reduce resource waste and bring higher economic and social benefits to the hospitality industry.
